Greenlee senior awarded 2025 College AV All-Star award

Greenlee senior in journalism and mass communication, Blake Petersen, a native of Elk Horn, Iowa, was honored Friday night as a recipient of the 2025 College AV All-Star from the Upper Midwest Emmy® Foundation at the 14th annual Student Production Awards ceremony at the Hilton DoubleTree in Bloomington, Minn. The award recognizes students who are “an incredible technical asset to the overall success of their school’s student video media program.”

Petersen was among a contingent of 11 Greenlee students who attended the ceremony, which was aired live on the Upper Midwest Emmy® Foundation’s YouTube channel. Greenlee had received 10 nominations for awards. The students were joined by assistant teaching professors Tony Moton and James McNab for the ceremony.

The next day, Petersen and several Greenlee students attended the 2025 Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association Convention, a skills training and networking event featuring attendees and guest speakers from the six-state region of Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota and Nebraska.
