Prep Sports Show premieres september 22 at 8 p.m.

New program brings comprehensive high school and prep sports coverage to viewers

The Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at Iowa State University is proud to announce the premiere of “Prep Sports Central,” a new weekly sports highlight and recap show entirely produced by students. The program debuts on Monday, Sept. 22, at 8 p.m. on Greenlee School Television, the school’s online home for student-produced video content.

“Prep Sports Central” will provide coverage of high school and prep sports throughout the region, featuring game highlights, player spotlights, team profiles and analysis of local athletic competitions. The student-produced format offers a unique perspective on prep sports, created by and for the community.

“We’re excited to give our students the opportunity to showcase their talents both on and off the field,” said James McNab, assistant teaching professor at the Greenlee School. “This program represents the perfect combination of student journalism, broadcast production and community sports coverage.”

The show will be created and hosted entirely by students from the Greenlee School, who will handle everything from filming games and conducting interviews to editing highlights and producing the broadcast. “Prep Sports Central” serves as a project for the school’s new sports media and communication major, providing students with invaluable hands-on training in media production, journalism and sports broadcasting.

“Prep Sports Central” aims to celebrate the achievements of local student-athletes while providing families and fans with a dedicated platform to follow their favorite teams and players throughout the season.

Be sure to tune in on Mondays at 8 p.m. for “Prep Sports Central” on Greenlee School Television.
