You’re a Cyclone in the making!

Don’t just learn about media, create it! Our Greenlee experiences are designed to give high school students a real taste of college life while building skills in storytelling, communication, and digital media. Whether you’re interested in sports, content creation, or creative storytelling, these hands-on camps put you in the driver’s seat with access to professional tools, spaces, and mentors. Spend time on Iowa State’s beautiful campus exploring your interests, starting or building your portfolio, and discovering what’s possible at Greenlee.

  • Sports Media and Communication Training Camp

    Date: Monday, June 15
    Time:
    8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    Grades: 9-12
    Location: Iowa State University (Hilton Coliseum and Hamilton Hall)
    Cost: $50 (includes lunch and a camp T-shirt)
    Financial assistance is available.

     

Participants will gain hands-on experience and learn directly from professionals working in the field.

Throughout the day, you will:

  • Tour Hilton Coliseum and visit the control rooms behind video board and ESPN+ productions
  • Learn the roles of directors, producers, graphics, replay, and audio teams
  • Shoot and edit your own sports video content
  • See how Iowa State’s creative team captures and shares major athletic moments
  • Connect with industry professionals and hear real-world career insights

By the end of the camp, you’ll walk away with practical experience, new knowledge, and content you’ve created yourself.

Space is limited and registration will close when full.

  • Storytellers Camp (Digital Storytelling)

    Date: Tuesday, June 16
    Time: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    Grades: 9-12
    Location: Hamilton Hall, Iowa State University
    Cost: $50 (includes lunch and a camp T-shirt)
    Financial assistance is available.

Step into the world of digital storytelling in this hands-on, one-day experience designed for students who want to explore creativity through media.

At Storytellers Camp, you’ll create your own original content while learning how stories come to life across digital platforms. Throughout the day, you will:

  • Explore photography across campus
  • Record in a professional podcast studio
  • Create mobile video using your phone or tablet
  • Develop a personal story project
  • Produce a digital portfolio of your work

By the end of the camp, you’ll leave with new skills, real content you’ve created, and a stronger understanding of digital storytelling.
