Whether we’re talking about university student newspapers or the Russian independent press, those in power have always recognized that the press can be both asset and adversary in reaching and winning the people. But what do those efforts to control the press look like in 2022? Join us for a Q & A with Lindsie Rank, student press counsel for FIRE. Rank’s work focuses on advocating for the rights of student journalists on college campuses across the country. A 2018 graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill’s Law, Media & Communication dual-degree program, Rank is both an attorney and a social scientist, and her research explores how censorship affects student newsrooms. She’ll be interviewed by Dr. Andrea Frantz, professor of Digital Media at Buena Vista University and Executive Director of the Society for Collegiate Journalists.
