Bio
Maria Charbonneaux teaches in the Greenlee School and oversees the People Inc. Apprentice Program at Iowa State. She also offers freelance editorial and content marketing services to clients such as Better Homes & Gardens and DDM Content Solutions. Charbonneaux has over 20 years of experience creating editorial content for national media brands and working in higher education communications. Prior to returning to her alma mater in 2016 as Greenlee’s communications specialist, Charbonneaux spent 10 years at Meredith Corporation (now People Inc.) as a writer and editor for various decorating, remodeling and crafts titles, including Do It Yourself, Kitchen + Bath Makeovers, American Patchwork & Quilting and Scrapbooks etc. She got her start in magazines as a member of Iowa State’s second cohort of Meredith apprentices and through internships with Parents in New York (ASME) and Meredith’s custom publishing department. She received the 2024 College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Award for Early Achievement in Teaching and was a 2014 Iowa State University Alumni Association STATEment maker.
