Boyles Invited to Attend Data Journalism Conference

CATEGORIES: News

Jan Lauren Boyles, assistant professor in the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication, has been asked to attend an invitation-only “Data Journalism Unconference,” launched by the Global Editors Network. The conference, held Tuesday, May 10 at Thomson Reuters in New York City, is hosted by Google, the Knight Foundation and Reuters. Attendees will discuss and tackle data journalism challenges across borders. Boyles is a presidential hire specializing in big data and data journalism.

“This will be a great opportunity to network with folks in my subfield and to talk to Knight and other funders about the good work we’re doing at Greenlee,” Boyles said.

The event will stand as a unique and exclusive opportunity to exchange ideas on how teams, techniques and models vary from one country to the other, with the ultimate goal to initiate fruitful international collaborations.

Each attendee will be able to visit news organizations employing innovative data journalism techniques, including The New York Times and Wall Street Journal.
