Greenlee’s Black History Month celebration

Jay Stahl, an award-winning journalist and entertainment reporter with USA Today, will headline Greenlee’s Black History Month celebration on Tuesday, Feb. 20, with a reading and question-and-answer session in Hamilton Hall’s Commons (613 Wallace Road, Ames). The free event runs from 6-8 p.m. and kicks off with a Black History trivia contest hosted by Greenlee’s Student Media Leadership Team (SMLT).

Creating a connected community

Seventeen students in the public relations campaigns class set out to create a connected community among their peers at Iowa State University. The initiative, called MIND SPACE, was part of a campaign competition the students participated in for their PR 424 class project. Ultimately, the students achieved their goal, and won the national competition.

Mia Kawamitsu makes her mark

Even before her first day of classes at Iowa State, Mia Kawamitsu (’24 journalism and mass communication, international studies) sought out leads to write a future story. Her story, that is. The summer before her freshman year of college, she clicked through Iowa State’s website listings of over 800 student organizations and selected the ones she wanted to pursue.
