Bio
Dr. Yuchen Liu joined the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at Iowa State University in Fall 2026. Her research examines the role of emerging technologies in strategic communication, particularly how digital platforms and artificial intelligence influence communication practices, messaging strategies, and audience responses.
Prior to joining Iowa State, Dr. Liu taught at Purdue University and Cleveland State University. Her teaching portfolio includes Business Communication, Strategic Business Writing, Message Development, Principles of Public Relations, Principles of Advertising, Principles of Social Media, Research Methods in Strategic Communication, and Communication Campaigns.
Dr. Liu’s research and teaching are also informed by her professional experience as a Web and Social Media Producer at Channel 6 News in Lawrence, Kansas. In this role, she managed the station’s social media platforms, developed digital content, and maintained its online presence. She also contributed to writing, editing, and producing newscasts and helped coordinate coverage of special events.
