Assistant Professor Jan Lauren Boyles had a paper accepted to the upcoming World Journalism Education Congress, slated for this July in Auckland, New Zealand. The research focuses on how data journalists integrate new routines into daily news production, and how journalism educators can better prepare future graduates for the dynamic, data-driven newsroom.

In teaching, Boyles is updating her online summer class, with the support of an ELO grant. Boyles is also working with student capstone projects in the HCI program. In service, she is reviewing a manuscript for Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly and conference papers for the Association of Internet Researchers.
