Dennis Chamberlin Wins Fulbright Award to Ukraine

Iowa State University Associate Professor Dennis Chamberlin has received word that he won a Fulbright Award, one of the highest honors for American scholars and experts.

Chamberlin has taught photography, multimedia and related courses at the Greenlee School for 11 years. He received a faculty development leave for the 2016-17 academic year and will be teaching at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv during his award period.

The Ukrainian institution is starting a master’s program in documentary photography and Chamberlin has been assigned to that project.

“I’m thrilled at the opportunity to work with the faculty and students at UCU during the next academic year,” he said. “I hope to meet a few of them later this month when I am in Lviv as an invited presenter at the year’s Lviv Media Forum.”

Chamberlin has been leading a study abroad program in multimedia journalism in Urbino, Italy for the past several months.

Michael Bugeja, Greenlee School director, noted the Fulbright Award is yet another honor showcasing the school’s premiere status as one of the best journalism and mass communication programs in the country.

The Fulbright Program provides competitive merit-based grants for international educational exchange for students, scholars, teachers, professionals, scientists and artists. It was founded by US Sen. J. William Fulbright in 1946.
