Sara Wyant, president and founder of Agri-Pulse Communications Inc., the nation’s largest communications firm focused on agricultural and rural policy issues, will present the 2018 William K. Deal Endowed Leadership Lecture Oct. 2 at Iowa State University. Wyant earned a degree in journalism and mass communications from Iowa State in 1980.
The Greenlee School will host the Jump-Start Internship and Networking Fair Oct. 17. The boutique-style fair connects Iowa State University students with employers looking for interns and employees in communications fields.
Associate Professor Joel Geske decided to make a change in his advertising classes after reading survey responses from students who felt left out or not valued when working on team projects. Geske says you must be intentional to be inclusive, both in the classroom and workplace.
William F. “Bill” Tubbs, co-owner and co-publisher of the Eldridge North Scott Press and Wilton-Durant Advocate News and longtime supporter of journalism education, will receive the Greenlee School’s 2018 James W. Schwartz Award. The annual award recognizes distinguished service to journalism and communication.

Lindsey Moor (’18 public relations) and Ashley Kirkpatrick, senior in advertising, will compete for the National Excellence in Media Award and scholarship money during the 2018 Washington Media Scholars Case Competition in Washington, D.C.
