The Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication encourages journalism students to submit their best published work for consideration in the Hearst Journalism Awards competition to compete for scholarships.
Depth reports completed by journalism students who took Digital Newsroom (414X), an experimental Greenlee course, in fall 2017 were published in January by the Iowa State Media Group. The work explores sustainability issues in Central Iowa.
The scholarship application is available for current and transfer students. Applications are due Feb. 5. The Greenlee School awards over $150,000 in scholarships every year to its students. Current students and those transferring to ISU for the 2018-2019 academic year may apply.
Two student journalists received individual honors from the Associated Collegiate Press in October at the National College Media Convention in Dallas for work published in by the Iowa State Daily Media Group during the 2016-17 academic year.
Women whose leadership has made a difference at Iowa State University will be honored by the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics on the 12th annual Woman Impacting Iowa State calendar – and two of them have ties to the Greenlee School.
