Bio

Jan Lauren Boyles joined Greenlee from the Pew Research Center in Washington. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). She is the elected chair of AEJMC's Council of Divisions. In 2023, she was named International Engagement Editor for Digital Journalism. She has received the Early Achievement in Teaching Award and Graduate Student Mentoring Award from ISU's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Boyles previously served as a Google Journalism Fellow and as Director of Advising at West Virginia University’s Reed College of Media. A native of Fairmont, West Virginia, Boyles began her career as a newspaper journalist. Her research at ISU centers on the intersections of news, data/code and civic technology.
