Bio
Jan Lauren Boyles joined Greenlee from the Pew Research Center in Washington. Boyles has previously served as a Google Journalism Fellow and as Director of Advising at West Virginia University’s Reed College of Media. In 2016, she was selected as a Scripps Howard Visiting Professor in Journalism, spending two weeks in residence at The Post and Courier in Charleston, South Carolina. In 2017, she was named as a Disruptive Educator Fellow by the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism. Boyles has received the Early Achievement in Teaching Award and Graduate Student Mentoring Award from ISU's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). She is the elected chair of AEJMC's Council of Divisions. She also serves on the editorial boards of Digital Journalism and Newspaper Research Journal. A native of Fairmont, West Virginia, Boyles began her career as a newspaper journalist. Her research at ISU centers on the intersections of news, data and civic technology.Published: December 14, 2015
