Alumna Kelly Howard to present Fall 2017 Futures Forum on media entrepreneurship, leadership

Kelly Howard, CEO of EightSixtySouth and Iowa State alumna, will discuss the business side of public relations and how to succeed in internships at the Greenlee School’s Fall 2017 Futures Forum. Free and open to the public, the lecture will begin at 3 p.m. on Oct. 26 in the Memorial Union Campanile Room.

Howard will present, "The Art of Promotion: How to Build a Brand for Yourself and Your Business." She’ll also discuss her journey to entrepreneurship and what it really takes to pursue a passion in today’s media world.

After serving as Post+Beam’s West Coast Director for five years, Howard acquired the company in October 2016 and has led her team through a full rebrand. A self-described #girlboss, Howard is now the head of the strategic communications agency, which has offices in Los Angeles and New York.

An accomplished and passionate public relations professional and strategist, Howard is seasoned in creating targeted approaches for consumer brands in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle market. Specializing in cross-channel marketing and drawing from expertise in PR, content strategy and digital, her work builds meaningful and ROI-focused brand experiences for a diverse roster of clients.

Prior to joining Post+Beam, Kelly worked for Kip Morrison & Associates, an LA-based boutique public relations agency, as well as Taylor Public Relations, an award-winning strategic public relations agency in New York City. Her work has garnered client placements in top national publications and television programs such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, New York Times, E! News and “The Today Show.”

A 2008 graduate of the Greenlee School, Howard spearheaded the Iowa State Daily’s public relations efforts throughout her college career. She currently serves as the president and club leader of the ISU Alumni Association of Los Angeles.
