Teagan Gara, junior in journalism and political science, was awarded the Hugh S. Sidey Scholarship in Print Journalism. It includes $5,000 and a trip to Washington, D.C.

Spring 2021 Jump-Start Fair Internship and Networking Fair: Virtual Edition
The spring 2021 Jump-Start Internship and Networking Fair will take place in a virtual format on March 10 and 11, 2021, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Employer registration begins Jan. 27 and concludes Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. Appointments will be pre-scheduled. Students may sign up for appointments beginning March 1 through March 5 or until schedules are full.

Graduate students study relationship between food and media in Greenlee seminar course
Graduate students learned how media products can be used to tell stories, share news and unite people for a greater cause around food systems in a course taught by Laura Witzling, assistant professor in the Greenlee School.

Judge Rosemarie Aquilina visits Greenlee media ethics courses
Students in Distinguished Professor Michael Bugeja’s online media ethics class were joined by Judge Rosemarie Aquilina from her courtroom in Michigan Wednesday, Oct. 21. Aquilina presided over the Larry Nassar case in 2018.
Novotny Lawrence to present LAS Dean’s Lecture Nov. 5
Associate Professor Novotny Lawrence will present the Fall 2020 Dean’s Lecture on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. online. The lecture, “White Mansions, Black Bodies: Jordan Peele’s ‘Get Out’ and the New Age Slave Plantation,” will discuss the horror thriller, demonstrating the ways in which the director employs traditional filmmaking storytelling tropes to examine contemporary racial politics.
